At its essence, journalism is simply the answer to the question, “What happened?” In practice, of course, it is far more than that. If well executed, journalism is a mirror held up to a community showing its different facets as they are, not how optimists or cynics imagine them to be. It is a privilege to be one of the many people holding up that mirror.
